Our national park ranger will welcome you with a friendly smile at the bottom station of Weißsee-Gletscherwelt (Weißsee Glacier World) at Enzingerboden. After a short introduction, your snowshoes* will be expertly explained and adjusted. The group will then hike across flat land together until the tunnel portal ascent. A fantastic sight will greet you at the end of the tunnel: a natural curtain of ice that hangs down from the tunnel's ceiling. Once back outside, it will be time to be quiet again. Here, the tracks of red deer, fox and chamois indicate the habitat of many animals. This is what makes a snowshoe hike special. You will then continue along the forest road until you reach a timber stack. Here, the changes nature has made to adapt to the harsh high mountain climate are clear to see. The ranger will explain the survival strategies and symbioses, such as those of the spotted nutcracker and the stone pine. Further up the forest opens out and you will enjoy the view of Hohe Tauern while having a short break with a snack. Snow crystals will glisten and bathe the landscape in a special light. Charged with this particular mountain energy and with many impressions, you will make a leisurely return to the starting point.
